Arequipa to Chivay – Gateway to Colca Canyon
Your journey begins with a 7:30 AM pickup from your Arequipa hotel, where our knowledgeable guide will welcome you aboard for a thrilling ride towards Colca Canyon, the second deepest canyon in the world. As we ascend through the highlands, our first major stop is the Pampa Cañahuas Natural Reserve. Situated at 4200 meters above sea level, this reserve offers you a unique opportunity to observe wild vicuñas, llamas, and alpacas in their natural habitat. Enjoy a refreshing coca tea at Patahuasi to acclimate to the high altitude.
We continue our ascent to Patapampa, the highest point of the tour at 4800 meters. Here, a breathtaking natural viewpoint unfolds before you, offering panoramic views of the surrounding volcanic mountain range. Arriving in Chivay by 1 PM, you’ll have time to settle into your accommodations before enjoying a local lunch. The afternoon is yours to unwind in the soothing waters of La Calera hot springs, a perfect antidote to the day’s travels. Dinner follows at 7 PM, complete with a vibrant folk show, ensuring a culturally enriching end to your day.

Rise early at 5:30 AM for breakfast before we set off to the Cruz del Condor. This renowned spot is famous for its views of Andean condors taking flight against the stunning backdrop of the canyon. As we make our way back to Chivay, the tour takes a scenic route through various natural viewpoints, each offering its own unique vista of the canyon.
