Cusco – Paucartambo – Cloud Forest – Pilcopata Lodge
Your adventure begins early in the morning with a pickup from your hotel between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m. Travel in a comfortable private bus through the Andes, enjoying stunning mountain views and stopping at the Chullpas de Ninamarca, ancient funerary towers standing at 3,750 meters above sea level.
Visit the folkloric town of Paucartambo, known for its colonial bridge and vibrant traditions. Ascend to the Acjanaco sector (4,000m), the entrance to Manu National Park, before descending into the Cloud Forest, a magical ecosystem filled with orchids, heliconias, and primitive ferns.
Take a guided walk to spot the iconic Cock of the Rock during its mating ritual. With luck, you might also see Trogons, Quetzals, or even a Spectacled Bear. Arrive at Pilcopata Lodge in the afternoon, where you’ll enjoy private accommodations with bathrooms and showers.

Pilcopata – Atalaya – Machuwasi Lake – Paititi Lodge
After breakfast, continue your journey with a 45-minute drive to Atalaya Port (490m). From here, board a motorized boat for a 30-minute ride along the Madre de Dios River, where you’ll have the chance to spot a variety of animals.
Arrive at Paititi Lodge, a charming jungle retreat with private bathrooms and showers. After lunch, visit Cocha Machuwasi, where you’ll explore the lake by catamaran. Keep an eye out for Shansho (Hoatzins), monkeys, reptiles, dwarf alligators, insects, and possibly capybaras (Hydrochaerus hydrochaeris).
Return to the lodge in the evening for an optional night walk, where you can experience the nocturnal sounds and creatures of the jungle.

Return to the lodge for breakfast, then embark on a guided walk through the forest to reach the serene Cocha Maravilla. From a platform overlooking the private lagoon, observe a variety of wildlife, including birds, monkeys, small reptiles, insects, and dwarf alligators.
After your exploration, return to the lodge for lunch. The afternoon is free for relaxation or further discovery of the lodge’s surroundings. In the evening, enjoy another optional night walk to uncover the jungle’s nocturnal secrets.
