Tour Itinerary

Explore our expertly designed itinerary below, crafted to showcase breathtaking views and provide unique adventures every step of the way.

Day 1

Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa – Humantay Lake – Salkantaypampa

Your odyssey begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. As dawn breaks, we will journey through the rolling Anta plains to Mollepata. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy breakfast and fuel up for the trek ahead. With the snowcapped peaks of Salkantay and Veronica serving as a backdrop, your sense of adventure will surely ignite.

After our brief stop at Mollepata, we continue to Soraypampa, the jumping-off point of our trek. Here, in the embrace of the mountains, we meet our dedicated support team and the horses that will accompany us on this journey. With spirits high, we set forth to the crystalline waters of Humantay Lake. The path will challenge and reward in equal measure, culminating in a lakeside spectacle that leaves many speechless.

Post exploration, we descend to Soraypampa for a nourishing lunch. Our path then leads us to Salkantaypampa. As the day wanes, this secluded spot amid the glacier valleys becomes our home for the night. Tea will warm your soul, and a sumptuous dinner will replenish your energy. As night descends, the skies come alive, offering a celestial performance that remains etched in memory.

Day 2

Salkantaypampa – Salkantay Pass – Collpapampa

Awaken to the serenity of the Andes with a gentle coca tea service at your tent. The crisp morning air is perfect for a hearty breakfast, fueling us for today’s challenge – the climb to the formidable Salkantay Pass. As the sun’s first rays kiss the peaks, we embark on our ascent, a rigorous 3-hour hike that tests the spirit and rewards with unparalleled vistas.

Surrounded by the rugged beauty of the rocky valley, we scale the path, keeping company with the towering Salkantay, an apu revered by the Incas. Witness the wildlife, perhaps a glimpse of a shy chinchilla, as you etch your own path on these ancient trails. The summit at 4620 meters is more than a physical peak; it’s a spiritual zenith, a moment of profound accomplishment.

With the Salkantay Pass conquered, we descend towards Huayracmachay for a well-deserved lunch. The journey’s second act unfolds as we tread through the ever-changing landscape, a transition from rocky highlands to the lush tapestry of the cloud forest. This natural mosaic is alive with orchids, hummingbirds, and the rustle of bamboo groves, leading us to our campsite at Collpapampa.

Day 3

Collpapampa – La Playa – Lucmabamba

With the morning light filtering through the foliage, your day begins with a steaming cup of coca tea. Breakfast amidst the clouds precedes our departure. Today, our trail winds along the Salkantay River, through the verdant embrace of the jungle. It’s a day to indulge the senses – the scent of wild orchids, the sound of the river, and the taste of local fruit fresh from the tree.

The trek to La Playa through the Santa Teresa valley is interspersed with hamlets where the smile of a local is as warming as the tropical sun. The “Cock of the Rocks”, Peru’s national bird, may grace us with an appearance. Arriving at Lucmabamba, we are guests in a different world, one of coffee plantations nestled in the arms of the mountains.

The afternoon brings a unique experience as we immerse ourselves in the coffee process, from bean to cup. As you learn to harvest, peel, roast, and grind the beans, the essence of coffee intertwines with the culture of the land. The culmination is your own handcrafted espresso, savored as the day eases into night.

Day 4

Lucmabamba – Llactapata – Hydroelectric – Aguas Calientes

With the dawn, we lace up our boots for an early trek to evade the equatorial sun. Today, we trace the original Inca trail to Llactapata, a path walked by the ancients, unspoiled and ripe with history. It’s a day of connections – to the past, to nature, and to the mystery of Machu Picchu. Our hike is punctuated with the flutter of butterflies, the aroma of citronella, and spontaneous waterfalls, a prelude to the wonders ahead.

The ridge offers a vista that’s a feast for the senses, with Machu Picchu unveiled in the distance, urging us forward. Llactapata’s ruins, still cradled by the jungle’s embrace, offer a silent narrative of a civilization past. From here, we descend to the Aobamba River, trekking to the Hydroelectric station where we bid farewell to our cook and continue by train to Aguas Calientes.

The town of Aguas Calientes serves as the gateway to Machu Picchu, and here we’ll rest in a comfortable hotel, our bodies at ease but our minds still wandering the Inca trails we’ve traversed.

Accommodation: Hotel in Aguas Calientes
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
Hiking: Approx. 5 hours, 15 km

Day 5

Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Ollantaytambo – Cusco

Before the sun graces the sky, we rise with anticipation. A bus journey spirals us up to Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas. As dawn unfolds, the city is bathed in a mystical light. We enter the citadel, hearts pounding not from the climb but from the realization of a dream.

Our guide reveals the secrets of Machu Picchu, from the sacred temples to the intricate stone construction, each tale more fascinating than the last. After the tour, you’re free to wander through the ruins, maybe even ascend Huayna Picchu for those who’ve secured their spot.

With a final panoramic gaze, we descend to Aguas Calientes and take the train to Ollantaytambo, and then a bus to Cusco. As we escort you back to your hotel, the journey may end, but the memories are forever etched into your spirit.
