Day 1: From Cusco to the Heart of the Andes: Ausangate and Ananta
Your unforgettable journey starts with a cozy pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. As we head towards Hanchipacha, a scenic 3-hour drive unfolds, setting the stage for the incredible trek ahead. Upon arrival, enjoy a delicious, chef-prepared breakfast, fueling you for the day’s adventure.
After breakfast, we introduce our dedicated team — your experienced guide, our skilled cook, and the reliable horseman, each integral to ensuring a smooth and enriching trekking experience. With spirits high, we set off towards the majestic Ausangate mountain. The hike reveals stunning panoramic vistas and alpacas peacefully grazing, a testament to the region’s serene beauty.
Our journey leads us to the Apacheta pass, offering a spectacular view of the Ausangate lagoons, nestled at the mountain’s base. After immersing in this breathtaking scenery, we descend towards Ananta. This part of the trek highlights the region’s unique fauna and the towering peaks that shape the Andes. Arriving at Ananta (4,730m) by lunchtime, savor a delightful meal before enjoying a leisurely afternoon. As night descends, a sumptuous dinner awaits, followed by a peaceful night’s sleep under the stars.

Day 2: Ascend to Rainbow Mountain and Return to Cusco
Awaken at 3 am to a new day filled with wonder. After an early breakfast under the stars, we embark on a journey to nature’s masterpiece — the Rainbow Mountain. The trek to the Warmi Saya pass (4,980m) culminates in a mesmerizing sunrise, marking a perfect start to the day.
The descent to the Surini lagoon takes about 40 minutes, leading to a steady 1-hour ascent to the tour’s highlight – the awe-inspiring Rainbow Mountain (5,038m). As early arrivals, you’ll enjoy this natural wonder in peaceful solitude. Capture memories, listen to stories of its geological formation, and bask in the beauty of this unique landscape.
For those seeking further adventure, an optional trek to the “Red Valley” unveils a landscape of stunning red mountains, each more spectacular than the last. The journey back to Alqatari follows, where a hearty lunch and celebrations mark the end of your trek.
With hearts full of memories, we say goodbye to our mountain crew and head back to Cusco in our private transport, aiming to return by approximately 4 pm, enriched with experiences that will last a lifetime.
