The hike from Huchuy Phynaya to Chocolate Lake, spanning about two hours, is a delightful ascent through landscapes dotted with herds of llamas and alpacas.

As you near Chocolate Lake, its surreal red hue and unique beauty unfold before your eyes. It’s an extraordinary natural phenomenon that feels almost otherworldly. Following a nourishing breakfast, embark on an hour-long trek to this geological masterpiece. Arriving early grants you the privilege of experiencing the mountain’s vibrant colors and unique formations in a serene setting, perfect for capturing stunning photos.

The journey continues with a 30-minute hike to the mesmerizing Red Valley. Part of the Rainbow Mountain range, this area is characterized by its striking red-tinted mountains and streams, a canvas painted by nature’s rich mineral deposits.

After exploring these vivid landscapes, a sumptuous buffet meal awaits, prepared with care by our chef. Refreshed and reenergized, we then head to the tranquil Pomacanchi Lagoon, a haven for aquatic life. A Trek to Waqrapukara and Return to Cusco

Your journey towards Waqrapukara commences on a gently winding path through the stunning Andean landscape. The initial two hours of the hike are relatively easy, featuring minor ascents and descents, allowing you to fully immerse in the beauty of the high-altitude lakes and panoramic views. This serene walk is a perfect way to connect with the untouched natural splendor of the region.

As you approach the Waqrapukara vantage point, the first sight of the archaeological complex is sure to leave you spellbound. The 40-minute descent to the ceremonial center takes you closer to this remarkable Incan site, dramatically perched amidst enormous rock formations and overlooking the vast Apurimac River Valley.

Upon arrival at Waqrapukara, you’ll embark on a 1.5-hour tour of the ceremonial center.
