Ica – Ocucaje Desert – Cañón de los Perdidos – Ica
Your tour to the Cañón de los Perdidos begins early in the morning between 6:30 AM and 7:00 AM, with a convenient pickup from your hotel or bus station in Ica. Once gathered, we’ll head south toward the Ocucaje Desert, making a brief stop outside the city for you to purchase drinks and snacks before venturing into the desert.
At around 7:00 AM, we will set out into the vast Ocucaje Desert, following the Panamericana Sur highway before veering off onto a dirt road leading deeper into the desert. As we drive, you’ll see ancient marine fossils and multicolored hills formed by millions of years of geological activity. After about two hours, we’ll arrive at the magnificent Cañón de los Perdidos, a natural formation carved by erosion, with a depth of 150 meters and a length of 3 kilometers.
Upon arrival at approximately 9:00 AM, we will stop at the main viewpoint, offering sweeping views of the canyon’s immense crack in the earth. You’ll see the striking rock formations and the canyon’s unique environment, which shelters scavenging birds that are considered the guardians of this region.
Next, we’ll begin our trek into the canyon, walking along sandy paths and observing fascinating features such as fossilized remains and salt deposits. As we make our way through the canyon, we’ll come upon its water eyes, small springs hidden within this dramatic landscape. The trek provides an incredible opportunity for adventure and photography as you immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty of this natural wonder.
After enjoying the canyon, we’ll begin the return trip at approximately 12:00 PM, heading back to Ica. Along the way, we’ll stop for lunch at a rustic restaurant where you can savor local dishes (at your own expense). You will also have the chance to visit an artisanal winery, where you can enjoy a tasting of traditional pisco and wine. There will be a few moments to relax, shop for local products, or simply enjoy the atmosphere.
By approximately 3:30 PM, we will return to Ica, with drop-offs at your hotel or the bus station, concluding your exciting journey to the Cañón de los Perdidos.
