Arrival in Puerto Maldonado – Monkey Island – Night Safari
Your journey begins with a warm reception at the Puerto Maldonado Airport or bus terminal, followed by a transfer to the operator’s office for registration. From there, head to the port captaincy and board a motorized boat for a one-hour ride along the scenic Madre de Dios River. Arrive at your jungle lodge and enjoy a refreshing regional fruit juice during the welcome meeting. Settle into your room and prepare for the adventures ahead.
After lunch, cross the river to visit Monkey Island, a sanctuary for various monkey species, including Capuchin monkeys and Friar monkeys. Learn about their behaviors and observe them in their natural habitat.
In the evening, embark on an exciting night safari along the riverbanks, equipped with a flashlight to spot white alligators resting on sandbanks. You may also see capybaras, the world’s largest rodents, weighing up to 60 kg. Return to the lodge for dinner and rest amidst the serene sounds of the Amazon.

Lake Sandoval Exploration – Jungle Night Walk
Start the day with a hearty breakfast before embarking on a 3 km trek through the dense tropical forest to reach Lake Sandoval, located within the Tambopata National Reserve. Board a rowboat and explore the serene waters of the lake, home to an array of wildlife, including piranhas, vibrant birds such as shanshos, jacanas, and cormorants, as well as monkeys like Cotomonkeys, Friar monkeys, and Pichicos. Keep an eye out for giant otters, which can grow up to 2 meters long, and large alligators, some exceeding 4 meters.
Return to the lodge for a traditional Amazonian lunch and some relaxation time. As night falls, join an exciting jungle night walk to discover the forest’s nocturnal life. Spot a variety of species, including insects, amphibians, reptiles, and other animals that come alive after dark. Dinner will be served back at the lodge before you retire for the night.

Canopy Walkway – Return to Puerto Maldonado
Begin your final day with an early morning short trek to the Canopy Walkway, a suspended bridge about 30 meters high. From the platforms, observe a variety of birds, including toucans, macaws, tanagers, and orioles, as they awaken with the sunrise.
Return to the lodge for breakfast before taking the boat back to Puerto Maldonado. Transfer to the airport or bus station, concluding your incredible 3-day Amazon adventure.
